A LITTLE HISTORY
Founded in 1948 by Douglas Bianchi, one of British aviation's most colourful and respected characters, Personal Plane Services is proud to be Britain's oldest aviation company, still run by the same family nearly eight decades later.
From its early days selling and maintaining ex-military aircraft, PPS developed an international reputation for engineering excellence, restoring rare and historic aeroplanes, pioneering the construction of flying replicas and providing aircraft and pilots for over 100 film productions, including Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, The Blue Max and A Bridge Too Far.
Along the way, the company became a British aircraft manufacturer, supported the famous Rothmans Aerobatic Team, established Britain's first full-time aerobatic school and restored some of the world's most significant historic aircraft, including the iconic Spitfire.
Today, based at Turweston Airfield, PPS continues under the direction of Doug's son, Tony Bianchi, and his wife Pia, offering specialist aircraft sales, technical advice and maintenance — and, of course, enjoying the simple pleasure of flying nice aeroplanes.
